Backyard Landscaping Project in Memphis | Gurley's Azalea Garden

This client's front & backyard landscape was a complete overhaul and a great example of how the right planning and know-how can transform a space. The plan we created for their home increased the functionality and beauty of their entire outdoor environment.

We injected a shot of curb appeal using dry-stack fieldstone planter walls, selected because of how well they complemented the color of the house’s exterior brickwork, carefully balanced by large trees. To draw the visitor from front yard to back, we created a lush garden that serves as a serene, organic circulation pattern between the two. We also incorporated groundcover that flows between the stepping stones of the garden into the sculpted beds, artfully blending hardscape with landscape.

In the backyard, we created a raised pond with a soothing, trickling waterfall feature, situated beside a flagstone patio with a custom cedar arbor that makes the area feel like a secluded enclave. Boasting an outdoor kitchen and ample space for furniture, the patio is an ideal setting for entertaining. At night, LED lights make the entire scene come alive in a new way, and strategically placed light fixtures serve to illuminate focal points and help the homeowners feel safe.
